Saints waive duo arrested for lewd acts
Three days after being jailed for lewd conduct, indecent exposure and public drunkenness, wide receiver Biren Ealy and tight end Kolomona Kapanui were released by the Saints , team officials said Tuesday.

Ealy, 24, and Kapanui, 25, were booked early Sunday morning on charges of obscenity, disturbing the peace by being drunk in public, and lewd conduct by urinating in public and exposing themselves to two women in the parking lot of the Palmetto Creek apartments in the 5100 block of Citrus Boulevard in Elmwood.

The two men were urinating in the parking lot when the two women pulled up to the apartments, said Col. John Fortunato, a spokesman for the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office. One woman told them to stop. Ealy allegedly turned around and exposed himself to the woman and started making lewd comments. Kapanui also turned around, faced the woman driving the car, and started to fondle himself while making lewd comments.

The women yelled for help and called 911.

Ealy and Kapanui were taken to the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center where they were initially held on $4,250 bond. They were released Sunday; Kapanui at 4:30 p.m. on $750 bond, and Ealy at 7:20 p.m. on $4,250 bond. Both players were allowed to sign themselves out of the correctional center.

All of the charges are pending. A status date has been set for June 17.

"(Attorney) Don Cashio and I have met with the two young men, and they are weighing all their options, including who will be their legal representation," said local attorney Chick Foret.

Neither player has played in a game for the Saints . Ealy was picked up by the Saints in January after spending the better part of two seasons on the Tennessee Titans' practice squad. Kapanui was signed to the Saints' practice squad in late November but did not appear in a game.

Saints spokesman Greg Bensel declined comment. The two players also declined comment through Foret.
