Pat Williams and Kevin Williams are not two doods who appear to be losing weight. So it’s a little bizarre to hear about them using these water pills that everyone’s talking about (and which also classify as steroids). But they have apparently been busted and they will apparently be facing the appeals process and a potential four game suspension.
Jay Glazer (naturally) reported the info (via PFT).
Jay Glazer of FOX reports that the list of players who tested positive for a banned diuretic include both of the Vikings’ starting defensive tackles, Pat and Kevin Williams.
If the suspensions ultimately are upheld, the Vikings would be without the services of both players for four games. And that would decimate the Vikings’ run defense.
Glazer also reports that Falcons defensive tackle Grady Jackson is one of the names on the list.
Yeah, the Vikings are currently 3-4 and a game back of the Bears and Packers each. Losing the Williams(es) isn’t technically bad enough to knock them out of contention … it’s too early for that, but man, it sure is close. Their strength is stopping the run and running the ball, but regardless of how talented Adrian Peterson is, the Vikes need some defense too.
This also should make the New Orleans Saints and their fans feel better — at least there some bigger names on the list. Although it does make me wonder why the Saints’ names got leaked before everyone else.
